Gurdwara Godri Sahib Faridkot

 

Gurdwara godri sahib has a astonishing history of 12th century when baba farid ji then known as shakerganj also visited this holy place. Baba farid ji in 1215 was going to pak Pattan from Delhi with his friends while crossing they stayed here to rest for some time. He hanged his jacket which was popularly known as ‘godri’ and given by his Guru Bakhtiayar kaki, he went to fetch some food from the city Mokalhar, which was getting reconstructed by the then king mokalhar and he got freed the poor people who were made a forced labour . When he came back after getting food for him,  he saw some boys playing with the cloth (godri) , made of his godri  . Baba farid ji prayed here for 40 days for forgiveness of his mistake he made .Being held from 21st September to 22nd September. On 23rd September  a huge Nagar kirtan starts from Tilla sahib and ends at godri sahib . A divan is placed every year on 23rd sep. morning and a huge humanity award is also given to a deserving person by S. Inderjeet Singh Khalsa.
